Questionable Shares in Business

I am involved in the Marine industry at a Dealer/Consultant level and subscribe to a few different press aggregators. It’s my way of staying connected to the happenings of the industry while locked away in my home office.

Today, an article popped off the list to me and I dove in. As I read each word of the article, I began to wonder why the aggregator felt it needed included as a resource for those in the space.

On the surface, it’s about Super-Yachts – so you might say “duh, that’s why”… but read on. This article points to protests based on the “Substantiated damage yachts do to the environment” and how some people refer to this damage.

It also points to the spoiled nature of wealthy people who enjoy the Super Yacht lifestyle.

This brings me to a through on “Action Leadership” within this space. While a protest is newsworthy, surely there must have been a write up that puts the industry in a better light and doesn’t put climate theory and politics in the realm of truth.

This is a giant flaw in leadership. The lesson here is that no matter how simple a process may seem – like a news aggregator, it is crucial to spy on the details of your results periodically to make sure you don’t damage your own mission.
